Canada qualified for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup after a seven-wicket win over the Bahamas at the Maple Leaf Cricket Ground in Ontario.
Canada bowled out the Bahamas for just 57 runs in the final match of the qualifiers on Saturday. Kaleem Sana and Shivam Sharma showed their dominance with the ball, taking three wickets each. In reply, they won the match in just 5.3 overs. Dilpreet Bajwa played a stormy innings of 36 runs off 14 balls.
With this, Canada secured its participation in the 2026 T20 World Cup by winning 5 matches by topping the group. Canada, which participated in the T20 World Cup held in the United States and the Caribbean last year, came into this qualifier as one of the favorites.
This brings the total number of teams confirmed for the 2026 T20 World Cup, to be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Apart from hosts India and Sri Lanka, the list includes—Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, USA, West Indies, Ireland, New Zealand and Pakistan.
The remaining seven teams will come from three regional qualifiers—Europe (2 teams), Africa (2 teams) and Asia-East Asia Pacific (3 teams).
