September 7 : The plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum was held in Vladivostok, Russia, on September 3. Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang attended the session.
Speaking at the plenary session, Ding Xuexiang said that Chinese President Xi Jinping had previously attended the Eastern Economic Forum twice at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin. At those forums, President Xi explained China’s position on regional cooperation in Northeast Asia. His views were positively received by the international community.
He further said that President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin have held several meetings this year, providing strategic guidance for further developing the comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination between China and Russia in the new era, as well as comprehensive cooperation between the two sides. China is willing to work with Russia to implement the important decisions made by the two countries’ leaders and further deepen regional cooperation.
At the session, he put forward four recommendations:
1. Advance win-win and inclusive development: Further align the development strategies of Northeast China and Russia’s Far East; meet the needs of the people; properly develop industries with distinctive characteristics; and enable people to enjoy more of the benefits of development.
2. Create a sound environment for businesses: Establish favorable conditions for the development of enterprises.
3. Strengthen friendly exchanges: Enhance exchanges and cooperation across multiple sectors, including culture, tourism and education.
4. Safeguard regional peace and stability: Jointly uphold the UN Charter and international fairness and justice.
