Beijing Calls for Diplomatic Efforts to Ease Tensions in the Strait of Hormuz

China has emphasized that maintaining security and stability in the Strait of Hormuz and its surrounding waters is critically important for the international community.

The call was made by Mao Ning, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a regular press briefing in Beijing on Friday.

Mao Ning stated that the Strait of Hormuz and nearby sea routes are among the most vital maritime corridors in the world, playing a crucial role in global trade and the transportation of energy resources such as oil and gas. Reports of military tensions disrupting shipping activities in the area, she noted, are a matter of serious concern.

She further stressed that maintaining peace in the region is not only a matter for one country but is closely linked to the economic interests of nations around the world. China therefore calls on all relevant parties to immediately halt military activities and take steps to stabilize the situation.

Mao Ning also urged all sides to act responsibly to prevent further escalation, warning that prolonged instability in the region could significantly affect global economic development.
