Bangladesh Gears Up for Climate Action: BCDP Portal Set to Launch

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MOEFCC), with support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), hosted a high-level consultation meeting recently at the Six Seasons Hotel in Gulshan, Dhaka, to assess the progress of the Bangladesh Climate Development Partnership (BCDP) and finalize plans for the upcoming launch of its web portal.

The session was chaired by Mohammad Navid Safiullah, Additional Secretary, MOEFCC. Notable attendees included Musrat Meh Jabin, Chief (Additional Secretary), Programming Division of the Planning Commission, Ministry of Planning; Monzur Hossain, Joint Secretary, Finance Division; and members of the working groups from the Economic Relations Division (ERD) and MOEFCC.

In a key presentation, Mousumi Pervin, Senior Climate Change Officer at the ADB Bangladesh Resident Mission, outlined recent advancements under the BCDP framework and shared details on the functionalities of the soon-to-be-launched BCDP web portal.

The meeting focused on three strategic actions: gathering input from working group members on the portal’s design and utility, identifying potential climate project concepts to be tabled at the next Board meeting, and setting an action plan to accelerate BCDP implementation in line with national climate priorities.

Participants reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening coordination and transparency in climate finance and policy through the BCDP. The web portal is expected to serve as a critical platform for tracking progress, enhancing collaboration, and showcasing Bangladesh’s climate leadership on a global stage.
