Bangladesh–China Talks at Great Hall of the People Seal 15 Cooperation Agreements

Bangladesh Prime Minister Tareque Rahman and Chinese Premier Li Qiang held high-level talks in Beijing aimed at further strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. Following the meeting, the two sides signed two formal agreements and 13 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to expand cooperation across multiple sectors.

The meeting took place on Thursday afternoon at China’s iconic Great Hall of the People in Beijing and is widely viewed as a significant step forward in the evolving relationship between Dhaka and Beijing. During the discussions, both sides focused on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure, energy, education, and other development-oriented sectors.

Prime Minister Tareque Rahman led a high-level Bangladeshi delegation, while Chinese Premier Li Qiang headed the Chinese side. The signing ceremony was held in the presence of both leaders following the conclusion of the talks.

According to official sources, the newly signed agreements and MoUs are expected to deepen economic partnership between the two countries and open up new avenues for collaboration in major development projects.

Earlier, Additional Press Secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office, Atikur Rahman Ruman, confirmed the meeting, stating that it formed a key part of the ongoing official visit to China.

The Bangladeshi delegation included Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman, Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan, Power and Energy State Minister Anindya Islam Amit, Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir, Finance and Planning Adviser Rashed Hasan Al Mahmud Titumir, and Education Adviser Mahadi Amin.

Analysts say that economic and strategic cooperation between Bangladesh and China has steadily expanded in recent years. The Beijing meeting is expected to further institutionalize and broaden this growing partnership.
