Bangladesh Approves Visa-Free Travel Deal for Diplomats with Pakistan

Bangladesh and Pakistan’s diplomatic and official passport holders will be able to travel to each other’s countries without a visa, following the approval of a draft agreement by the Advisory Council.

The decision was taken on Thursday at the weekly meeting of the Advisory Council, chaired by Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus, at the Chief Adviser’s Office. The Cabinet Division later confirmed the matter in a press release.

Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam told reporters at the Foreign Service Academy that the agreement will initially remain effective for five years. Bangladesh currently has similar visa exemption agreements with 31 countries, including India. He emphasized that the facility will apply only to diplomatic and official passport holders.

He further noted that the meeting also discussed progress in implementing the recommendations of the Reform Commission. Ministries are simultaneously advancing reform measures on their own initiatives, he added.
