APEC 2026 Theme: “Prosperity Through Partnership”

China will host the 33rd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in 2026, according to Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu, who disclosed the information in an interview with Xinhua.

In the interview, Ma Zhaoxu confirmed that 2026 has been designated as the “APEC China Year.”

The theme of the summit will be:
“Building an Asia-Pacific Community of Shared Future for Common Prosperity.”

Ma noted that the world is currently facing significant challenges in trade and security. In such a context, strengthening cooperation across the Asia-Pacific region is crucial. He added that China’s hosting of APEC in 2026 is expected to contribute to greater stability in both regional and global economies.

Chen Xu, Chair of the APEC Senior Officials’ Meeting, said that this will be the third time China hosts an APEC summit. The previous events—held in 2001 and 2014—had notable global impact.

Throughout 2026, China plans to hold around 300 meetings and activities under the APEC framework.
The first Senior Officials’ Meeting will take place 1–10 February in Guangzhou, followed by meetings in Shanghai in May and Dalian in August.
