English Edition of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China Volume V Launched in Johannesburg

On 3 December, Johannesburg, South Africa, hosted the launch of the English edition of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China, Volume V. The event was attended by Chinese and international guests, including policymakers and scholars.

Participants noted that the fifth volume extensively reflects President Xi Jinping’s latest thoughts on socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era. It systematically presents the distinctive features, practical approaches, and significant achievements of Chinese-style modernization, while offering valuable insights and solutions for other countries in the Global South seeking modernization.

Maropene Ramokgopa, Second Deputy Secretary-General of South Africa’s ANC and Minister in the Presidency for Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation, highlighted that the volume elaborates on key aspects such as Chinese-style modernization, poverty alleviation, scientific and technological innovation, and global development cooperation, providing instructive guidance for developing nations.

Cedric Frolick, Chairperson of South Africa’s National Assembly, said the volume details China’s overarching development plans for the future, offering South Africa an opportunity to understand China’s latest development concepts and foreign policy approach.

During the event, foreign guests were presented with copies of the English edition of the fifth volume. Experts also exchanged views on modernization, the Global South and global governance, BRICS cooperation, high-quality Belt and Road initiatives, and China–Africa collaboration in the new era.
