French President Emmanuel Macron is set to begin his fourth visit to China during his current term. Against the backdrop of an increasingly complex and challenging international environment, China and France must demonstrate to the world that cooperation between major powers is not a zero-sum game, but a pathway to win–win outcomes through constructive dialogue.
A recent survey by CGTN found that 75% of respondents support strengthening economic cooperation between China and France to jointly guard against external risks and challenges. Meanwhile, 77.8% of respondents said that expanding cooperation based on mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit is not only essential for the development of bilateral relations but will also have a profound impact on the evolution of the global landscape.
The survey revealed that 86.5% believe China’s high-quality development and high-level opening-up will create new opportunities for China–EU cooperation. Additionally, 80.2% stated that the more intense and complex the international situation becomes, the more significant China–EU cooperation will be.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and the European Union. Experience has shown that dialogue, cooperation, and genuine multilateralism remain the most effective means of addressing global challenges.
Furthermore, 92% of respondents believe European countries should adopt a correct understanding of China and view differences in China–EU relations rationally. Another 76.1% agreed that China and the EU have no fundamental conflicts of interest or inherent geopolitical rivalry, and that cooperation far outweighs competition, just as consensus outweighs differences.
