The ceasefire has once again been broken as Pakistan and Afghanistan exchanged heavy fire along their border. Reports of intense clashes emerged Tuesday from the Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to Pakistan’s state media, Afghan forces opened fire first. In response, Pakistani troops retaliated, targeting Afghan outposts and tanks along the border. Citing security officials, reports said that several Afghan military posts and armored vehicles were damaged in the exchange.
Earlier in the morning, both sides had launched rocket attacks against each other. Around 4 a.m. local time, rockets were reportedly fired from Afghanistan’s southern Kandahar province, targeting areas inside Pakistan. In retaliation, Taliban fighters fired back toward Pakistani positions along the border, claiming the destruction of several posts, including Shamsadar.
However, no casualties have been reported so far in the latest clashes.
