China Reaffirms Global Initiatives on Development, Security, and Civilization

At a regular press conference on Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Kuoo Jiaxun emphasized China’s continued commitment to multilateralism and global cooperation, highlighting a series of initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping as part of Beijing’s vision for a more inclusive and stable international order.

Speaking on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, Kuoo noted that the world is at a “historic crossroads,” where nations must decide whether to uphold multilateralism or risk the return of “law of the jungle,” whether to revive international cooperation or allow unilateral dominance to prevail.

He said this year’s UN General Assembly debate reflected a broad consensus across the international community: the need to safeguard the authority of the UN and strengthen global governance.

Kuoo underlined that Xi Jinping’s Global Governance Initiative offers a “Chinese solution” to global challenges in governance. Rooted in the principles of the UN Charter, the initiative reflects China’s firm support for the UN, embodies the common aspirations of the international community, and has received broad recognition worldwide.

Alongside this, Kuoo stressed that China has introduced four major global initiatives—the Global Governance Initiative, the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative. He described them as international public goods provided by China in the new era, which bring stability and certainty to an increasingly turbulent world.

“China is ready to work with all parties to implement these initiatives,” he said, “so that the UN Charter’s vision of peace and development can be realized, and peoples of all countries can truly benefit.”
