Anti-Immigration Protests Erupt in The Hague, Turning Violent

The Hague, September 21- The Dutch city of The Hague was rocked by violent anti-immigration protests on Saturday, as clashes broke out between demonstrators and police.

Protesters hurled stones at security forces, prompting police to respond with tear gas and water cannons to disperse the crowd. Two police officers were injured in the violence, and at least 30 people were arrested.

According to Dutch news agency ANP, around 1,500 demonstrators blocked a major highway, with some setting a police vehicle on fire.

Prime Minister Dick Schoof condemned the unrest, saying, “Such shameless violence is completely unacceptable.”

Far-right politician Geert Wilders, who recently won elections and remains ahead in upcoming polls, also denounced the violence, despite not attending the protest. He called the events “totally unacceptable” and the work of “fools.”
