China is ready to work with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and other nations to advance a more just and equitable system of global nuclear governance, said Shan Chongty, Director General of the China Atomic Energy Authority (CAEA).
The remarks came at a conference that opened Monday, focused on the peaceful use of nuclear energy and technology, while also addressing the need to safeguard the global nuclear non-proliferation regime.
Quoting UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Ghada Waly, Director-General of the UN Office in Vienna, stressed that the IAEA plays a vital role in ensuring that nuclear science and technology are used exclusively for peaceful purposes.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi noted: “This conference is being convened at a critical moment. The global nuclear non-proliferation regime is under significant pressure and requires protection.”
The exhibition showcased China’s cutting-edge nuclear power technologies, advances in the industrial supply chain, integration with artificial intelligence, and diverse applications of nuclear energy and technology.
