Bangladesh, US Pledge to Strengthen Cooperation in ICT Sector

Tracy Ann Jacobson, Chargé d’Affaires of the United States in Bangladesh, paid a courtesy call on Faez Ahmad Tayyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser in charge of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology. The meeting took place on Thursday at the ICT Tower in Dhaka.

According to a press release issued by the ministry on Friday, both sides discussed the development and future prospects of Bangladesh’s ICT sector. The talks covered the use of emerging technologies, development of skilled human resources, strengthening cybersecurity, and expansion of the startup ecosystem. Discussions also included the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPO), data governance, and modernization of police communication systems.

The US Chargé d’Affaires praised Bangladesh’s digital progress and assured continued technological cooperation and knowledge-sharing from the United States. Faez Ahmad Tayyeb emphasized that international partnerships are vital to establishing Bangladesh as a hub for innovation and technology.

Also present at the meeting were ICT Division Secretary Shish Haydar Chowdhury, David Mu, Deputy Counselor for Political and Economic Affairs and Head of the Political Section at the US Embassy, and Commercial Counselor Paul Frost.
