Israeli airstrikes targeted senior Hamas leaders in Doha, the capital of Qatar, on Tuesday afternoon, with reports of multiple explosions across the city.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemned the attack, calling it “a direct violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and regional stability.” He described Qatar as a key player in brokering ceasefire efforts and facilitating the release of hostages.
“All parties should focus on achieving a lasting ceasefire, not undermining it,” Guterres said.
The strikes came as Hamas representatives were holding talks in Doha over the latest U.S.-backed ceasefire proposal. Details of casualties or damage have not yet been released.
