On the occasion of the 41st Teachers’ Day, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, President of the People’s Republic of China, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, sent a letter to representatives of teachers in special positions across the country, expressing his sincere expectations and extending heartfelt greetings to educators nationwide.
In his letter, Xi Jinping noted that over the past 20 years, since the implementation of the “Special Post Program,” a vast majority of teachers in these positions have actively dedicated themselves to rural education, reflecting both their passion and commitment.
He expressed hope that teachers will continue to improve the quality of education, care for the healthy growth of children with love, and contribute anew to rural revitalization and the strengthening of the nation’s education sector.
Chinese Premier Li Qiang remarked that Xi Jinping’s reply to representatives of special-post teachers reflects the Central Committee of the CPC’s deep concern and attention toward educators. Teachers are encouraged to follow Xi Jinping’s guidance on socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era and to further contribute to building a strong nation through education.
The Special Post Program for teachers at the rural compulsory education level is a government-funded initiative that recruits university graduates to teach in rural schools in central and western China. Since its launch in 2006, the program has appointed over 1.18 million teachers to more than 30,000 rural schools across 1,000 counties in 22 provinces.
