Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, on July 9 in Cairo.
During the meeting, Li Qiang stated that at present, China-Arab relations have entered the best period in history. He said China has always viewed and developed relations with Arab countries from a strategic height, firmly supporting the just causes of Arab nations. China is willing to work with Arab countries to enhance mutual strategic trust, deepen cooperation in various fields, advance modernization, and jointly build a China-Arab community of shared interests. China also hopes to work with Arab countries to establish a fairer and more rational global governance system. Beijing expects the Arab League to continue playing an important role in advancing China-Arab relations.
Gheit affirmed that the Arab League firmly supports the One-China principle. He expressed the organization’s willingness to further deepen exchanges and cooperation with China in trade, investment, culture, and other areas. The Arab League aims to continue implementing the outcomes of the first China-Arab summit and jointly make good preparations for the second summit next year.
