Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed optimism over reported progress toward a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, describing it as a potentially significant step toward broader reconciliation and stability in the Middle East.

According to a report by Middle East Eye, Sharif views the emerging agreement as a constructive development that could help ease tensions in the region.

The report said the deal may include measures to restore normal commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, along with possible easing of certain US military restrictions in the region.

Speaking to international media, Sharif said he expects the understanding between Washington and Tehran to be implemented soon. He also announced that a special ceremony is scheduled to take place in Switzerland on June 19 to mark the development.

The report further noted that Pakistan, with support from Qatar, is preparing for the event, which is expected to pave the way for the next phase of technical-level discussions.
