Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, President of the People’s Republic of China, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, inspected the Xiong’an New Area in Hebei Province on March 23.
During the visit, he presided over a meeting on advancing high-quality construction and development of the Xiong’an New Area and delivered an important address.
Xi also visited the Xinhua Huadian Company. In October 2025, more than 1,000 employees from the company’s headquarters and subsidiaries relocated to Xiong’an. He toured the company’s operations monitoring and emergency command center, inquired about its relocation process, industrial layout, and innovative development, and observed real-time operational data and remote visual monitoring systems.
He urged the company to leverage its relocation as an opportunity to stimulate innovation and entrepreneurial spirit among employees, contributing to the development of a new energy system and the building of a strong energy sector in China.
At the Beijing-backed No. 4 Middle School Xiong’an Campus, which opened in August 2023 and now serves over 380 students, Xi entered a classroom, interacted with teachers and students, and inquired about teaching conditions. He expressed hope that the school would apply the advanced educational practices of Beijing No. 4 Middle School and pay close attention to students’ physical and mental well-being.
In the school cafeteria, he reviewed food quality and dining conditions and emphasized the importance of ensuring safe and nutritious meals for students. He encouraged the students to value their opportunities, work hard, stay positive, grow together with Xiong’an, and keep pace with China’s modernization.
In the afternoon of March 23, Xi Jinping presided over a conference on the high-quality development of the Xiong’an New Area. He stated that under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee and with the joint efforts of all parties, Xiong’an has achieved significant phased progress in its construction and development. He stressed that the decision to build Xiong’an has been entirely correct, and that all tasks have been implemented firmly and effectively.
Xi emphasized strengthening governance under the CPC leadership, improving public services, enhancing living standards, and exploring forward-looking smart city management models to build a “beautiful Xiong’an” characterized by blue skies, green land, and clear waters.
He further called for driving development through reform and innovation, deepening the integration of technological and industrial innovation, and developing new quality productive forces based on local conditions. He stressed the importance of building a modern industrial system, advancing the development of the Xiong’an Zhongguancun High-Tech Park, accelerating the commercialization of technological achievements, fostering emerging and future industries, upgrading the producer services sector, and supporting the transformation of traditional industries.
Xi also called for bold reform and innovation, implementing new institutional breakthroughs in areas such as science, technology, and finance, and building a market-oriented, law-based, and internationally aligned business environment.
