Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has warned that the country will not yield to any form of external pressure or threats, asserting that Tehran remains fully capable of defending itself if necessary.
In a message posted on social media platform X on Monday, Pezeshkian said Iran has never initiated a war but is prepared to exercise its legitimate right to self-defense.
The Iranian president also referred to a recent phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, during which he described the current situation as a “barbaric act of aggression.”
Pezeshkian called on the international community to take a firm stance against the military actions of the United States and Israel and to ensure that they comply with international law.
He further stressed the need to halt attacks on Iran that are allegedly being launched from U.S. military bases stationed across the Middle East, warning that such actions threaten regional stability.
According to Pezeshkian, the attacks appear aimed at undermining Iran’s relations with neighboring countries. He cautioned that if the situation continues, achieving lasting peace in the Middle East will become increasingly difficult.
Tensions in the region have escalated sharply since February 28, when coordinated strikes by the United States and Israel reportedly killed several senior Iranian military officials, including Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. In response, Iran is said to have launched drone and missile attacks targeting Israeli-held territories as well as U.S. military bases in the Middle East.
Pezeshkian emphasized that discussions on a ceasefire would be meaningless unless guarantees are provided that no further attacks will be carried out on Iranian territory. He reiterated that Iran will remain firm in defending its sovereignty.
