Mutual trust and cooperation between China and India are beneficial for both countries, while division and confrontation would be harmful not only to them but also to Asia’s broader rejuvenation, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said.
He made the remarks at a press briefing in Beijing on Saturday, March 7.
Wang Yi noted that following the Kazan Summit, the successful meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Tianjin last August has further improved bilateral relations. Both sides, he said, have sincerely implemented the important consensus reached by the two leaders, strengthened exchanges at various levels, achieved new milestones in bilateral trade, and promoted increasingly active cultural exchanges.
He further emphasized that China and India are important neighbors and both members of the Global South. Therefore, both sides should follow the direction set by their leaders, remove unnecessary interference, and extend the hand of cooperation to each other.
