At least 22 people were killed in an Israeli attack in southern Lebanon. 124 people were injured in this attack.
The Qatar-based media Al-Jazeera and the AP news agency reported on Lebanon’s Ministry of Health.
According to reports, the incident happened on Sunday (January 26), the last day of the withdrawal of troops from southern Lebanon according to the Hezbollah-Israel ceasefire agreement.
Lebanon’s health ministry says displaced Lebanese were trying to return to their homes in villages where Israeli forces are still present along the border. At that time, shots were fired.
The spokesman of the United Nations peacekeeping force in Lebanon said that it is not safe for ordinary citizens to return to these areas.
Lebanese President Joseph Aun also called for restraint as well as confidence in the armed forces. In a statement, he said that there could be no compromise on Lebanon’s sovereignty and regional integrity. I see the matter at the highest level to ensure your rights and dignity.
Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri condemned the Israeli army’s killing of civilians.
