Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is set to meet European leaders in Paris on Thursday as part of renewed diplomatic efforts to end Russia’s three-and-a-half-year-long aggression.
According to sources, U.S. President Donald Trump will not attend the talks. The main agenda will focus on ensuring Ukraine’s security and strengthening diplomatic initiatives, particularly as Russia appears to be withdrawing from recent peace efforts.
Growing diplomatic tensions surrounding Ukraine in recent weeks have placed renewed emphasis on Western security guarantees. Kyiv is seeking firm assurances to deter any future Russian attacks. Discussions are also underway on the possible formation of a European peacekeeping force as part of post-war security arrangements.
Trump has said the United States may support Europe’s peacekeeping plans but has no intention of deploying American troops to Ukraine. Russia, meanwhile, has strongly opposed any Western peacekeeping force. The Kremlin declared last week that it views such proposals “negatively.”
