Wang Huning Pledges Unity at 80th Anniversary of Taiwan’s “Recovery”

Wang Huning, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, attended and delivered a speech at the 80th anniversary of Taiwan’s “recovery.”

In his address, Wang Huning stated that the victory against Japanese aggression and the liberation of Taiwan represents a great triumph for the entire nation and a source of pride for the Chinese people and the Chinese nation. He noted that the government and party-designated “Taiwan Recovery Day” demonstrates the firm commitment of all ethnic groups in China to uphold the One-China principle and safeguard national sovereignty and regional integrity.

He emphasized that the celebration reflects the shared aspirations of Chinese people both domestically and abroad to achieve the complete reunification of the motherland. It also reinforces the international consensus that there is only one China in the world and Taiwan is an inseparable part of China. According to Wang, this legacy encourages compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait to continue the patriotic struggle against Japanese aggression and work together to realize the complete reunification of the motherland and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Wang Huning further stressed the importance of adhering to the principle of peaceful reunification and “one country, two systems,” maintaining the One-China policy and the 1992 Consensus, protecting the significant achievements of the victory against Japanese aggression, and advancing the grand goal of national reunification. He warned that separatists in Taiwan should not be given any opportunity.

He called for deepening cross-strait exchanges and integration, fostering a sense of community among the Chinese nation, safeguarding overall national interests, sharing the prospects of national reunification, and uniting compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, so as to jointly write a glorious chapter in the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
