US deploys aircraft carrier strike group in Middle East

The US has deployed aircraft carrier strike groups to the Middle East to protect Israel from possible Iranian retaliatory strikes. The move comes after Iran announced retaliation after the Israeli military killed Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. Israel is on high alert following Iran’s threats.

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin ordered the USS Georgia guided missile submarine to the Middle East and later deployed the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group there as well. The ship carries the state-of-the-art F-35 fighter jets, a significant part of the US military.

The US warship USS Roosevelt and other warships are already stationed in the Gulf of Oman. The United States fears that Iran may launch a major attack against Israel this week. US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby gave this warning and said that Iran could attack Israel at any time.

It is known that the situation in the Middle East is very tense and the United States must be prepared. US President Joe Biden has held talks with the leaders of the UK, France, Germany and Italy to seek a ceasefire in Gaza and de-escalation in the Middle East.
