The United Nations Security Council is set to vote on Monday on a proposal endorsing U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace plan for war-ravaged Gaza, according to diplomatic sources.
Media reports say the United States initiated discussions last week among the Council’s 15 members, aiming to secure support for Trump’s plan in the aftermath of the ceasefire that followed two years of fighting between Israel and Hamas. The core objective of the resolution is to formally back the peace initiative as part of ongoing efforts to stabilize the region.
Alongside the United States, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and several other Arab and Muslim-majority nations have urged the Security Council to adopt the proposal without delay, emphasizing the need for a unified international stance on Gaza’s post-war recovery and political roadmap.
