Socialist Development Model: New Momentum in China-Vietnam Cooperation

On the afternoon of 4 February (Wednesday), Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and President of China, met with Le Hoai Trung, Special Envoy of To Lam—General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV)—and Vietnam’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Xi Jinping stated that the CPC and the CPV share a fine tradition of informing each other about major political agendas, which reflects the special “comrade-and-brother” friendship between the two parties and their high level of mutual political trust.

He added, “I recently held a phone conversation with General Secretary To Lam, during which we exchanged in-depth views on advancing the strategic goal of building a China–Vietnam community of shared future, and reached important consensus.” Xi expressed confidence that under the strong leadership of General Secretary To Lam and the CPV Central Committee, the Party, the nation, and the people of Vietnam will be able to fulfill the goals and tasks set at the CPV’s 14th National Congress.

Xi emphasized that China and Vietnam are advancing socialist development across multiple sectors, demonstrating to the world the vitality and dynamism of socialism. China, as always, attaches great importance to the development of bilateral relations. He affirmed China’s willingness to work with Vietnam to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of both countries, deepen traditional friendship, strengthen exchanges at all levels, expand cooperation across various fields, properly manage differences, and jointly promote the building of a China–Vietnam community of shared future.

China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi was present at the meeting.
