Russia carried out widespread missile and drone strikes across nearly all districts of Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, on Friday morning, leaving 11 people injured, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
French news agency AFP reported multiple explosions in the city center as Russian attacks targeted critical infrastructure. Since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Russia has increasingly struck energy facilities, rail networks, and residential areas.
Kyiv Regional Military Administration Chief Mykola Kalashnyk confirmed that Russia targeted key infrastructure across the capital. Mayor Klitschko described the assault as a “massive Russian attack”, noting that air defense forces are actively responding.
Among the injured, five were hospitalized, including a pregnant woman and a man in critical condition. The attacks also disrupted electricity and water supplies in parts of the city.
Military administration head Tymur Tkachenko reported extensive damage to residential buildings, with eight out of ten Kyiv districts affected by fires and structural damage. Emergency response teams were deployed to all impacted areas.
