Plane crashes in South Korea

A Jeju Air plane has crashed while landing at Muen International Airport in South Korea. In this incident, two of the 181 passengers were rescued alive. The remaining 179 people were killed, the country’s fire service said. Acting President Choi Sang-mok has already visited the accident site.

A video of the twin-engine plane skidding off the runway and crashing into a wall has gone viral on social media. The video shows the plane speeding off the runway and crashing into a wall. Immediately the plane crashed and turned into a pool of fire. Within seconds, the sky was covered in a huge plume of black smoke.

According to international media reports, it initially appeared that the aircraft attempted to land on its belly (belly landing) seconds before the crash, possibly without fully deploying its landing gears.

In video published by the Wall Street Journal, the twin-engine plane skidded far down the runway without wheels, then skidded off the runway and crashed into an airport wall. Later, various parts of the crashed aircraft were seen burning and smoke was coming out.

The head of the local fire department said that the accident may have occurred due to a head-on collision with a flock of birds and adverse weather conditions.

Local media in South Korea reported that there were 181 people on board, including six crew members. Two of them were rescued alive. They have a passenger and a flight attendant.

Out of the 85 bodies recovered, 46 were women and 39 were men. At least 32 fire trucks and a large number of firemen have been deployed at the spot. In addition, the authorities have stopped all flights there after the accident.

In this incident, the international media BBC wrote, the cause of this accident is still not clear. However, local media say that the accident may have occurred due to a fault in the landing gear due to a collision with a bird during landing at the airport.
