On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army’s overseas fight in the war against U.S. aggression on behalf of Korea, Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, paid respects yesterday (Friday) at the gravesite of Chinese martyrs in Huichang County, South Pyongan Province, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported today (Saturday).
According to the report, a unit of the Korean People’s Army stood in formation in front of the graves, while the national anthems of China and North Korea were played. Kim Jong-un laid a wreath at the site.
The report stated that Kim Jong-un stood silently to honor the martyrs of the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army. He also visited the grave of martyr Mao Anying and placed flowers as a sign of respect.
KCNA emphasized that the martyrs shed their blood to support the revolutionary struggle of the Korean people, demonstrating internationalism and fraternal friendship. Their contribution is regarded as a precious symbol of friendship between the two countries, and the people of North Korea will never forget their sacrifice.
