Even though a ceasefire is in effect in Gaza, the humanitarian crisis continues to escalate. Limited aid delivery, compounded by Israel’s failure to fully honor the agreement, has left the region in a dire situation.
According to Gaza’s official media office, only 3,203 commercial and aid trucks reached the territory between October 10 and 31. This averages just 145 trucks per day—only 24 percent of the 600 daily trucks stipulated under the ceasefire agreement.
After two years of military assaults, many Palestinian families have lost their homes, leaving them without shelter. The entire Gaza Strip faces severe shortages of food, water, medicine, and other essential supplies.
The Gaza Civil Defense Agency reported that reaching areas near the Yellow Line remains difficult due to airstrikes and Israeli drone activity.
Gaza’s official media further claims that Israeli forces are deliberately obstructing trucks carrying aid and commercial goods, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis for over 2.4 million people.
A spokesperson for UN Secretary-General António Guterres noted that aid deliveries are being hindered due to Israeli-mandated route changes, necessitating additional crossings and internal transportation routes.
The Gaza Health Ministry stated that since the ceasefire, Israeli attacks have killed at least 222 Palestinians and injured 594.
Meanwhile, Israel has been accused of withholding the bodies of deceased prisoners, violating the ceasefire agreement. Hamas claims that Israel is also preventing the entry of heavy machinery and bulldozers needed for reconstruction and rescue operations, making relief efforts even more difficult.
