Hope Federation Union Successfully Hosts Hong Kong Civic Education Quiz Competition 2024

The “Hong Kong Civic Education Quiz Competition” (English Version) 2024, organized by the Hope Federation Union, founded by Dr. Halima Ismail and Mr. Henry Ma, has successfully concluded, garnering substantial participation and support from various stakeholders. Held on December 22, the event attracted over 1,300 participants, primarily non-Chinese and Chinese-speaking students, eager to test their knowledge on critical civic topics.

The quiz covered diverse themes, including the Hong Kong National Security Law, “One Country, Two Systems,” the National Constitution, and the Basic Law of Hong Kong. After a rigorous competition, five exceptional winners were announced:

1. 1st Place: Khan Bibi Aminah Lachica (Islamic Kasim Tuet Memorial College)
2. 2nd Place: Ahnaf Taspian Mahir MD (La Salle College)
3. 3rd Place: Dave Ko (Diocesan Boys’ School)
4. 4th Place: Mohammad Yunus Khera (Po Leung Kuk Lam Man Chan English Primary School)
5. 5th Place: Hossain Daniel Jordon (Sir Ellis Kadoorie Secondary School West Kowloon)

Founded in 2020, the Hope Federation Union aims to support non-Chinese and Chinese-speaking residents in Hong Kong by leveraging its network of ethnic minorities. The organization focuses on policy research concerning relevant issues, striving to enhance happiness, belonging, and security within the ethnic minority community while promoting the culture of the Chinese nation and fostering a cohesive society.

The event was honored by the presence of distinguished guests, including Mr. Hu Guangpei, Director of the Kowloon Office of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR, several Legislative Council members including Mr. Leung Man Kwong, and various leaders from ethnic minority communities, notably Yau Tsim Mong South Area Committee Member Dr. Fakhrul Islam Babu, EM leader Ms. Neena Pushkarna and Ms. Rita Gurung. Their attendance highlighted the significance of civic education and the community’s commitment to empowering youth.

The Hope Federation Union expressed gratitude and support to all participants. It reiterated its dedication to organizing future activities that encourage non-Chinese and Chinese-speaking youth to engage with social issues and participate actively in community initiatives.
