On the afternoon of September 1, Chinese First Lady Peng Liyuan welcomed the spouses of foreign leaders attending the 2025 SCO Summit to a cultural river tour along the Haihe River in Tianjin.
At the river port, Chinese children greeted the guests with songs, including “I’m Waiting for You in Tianjin,” while waving foreign flags. Peng Liyuan warmly received the visitors and posed for group photographs.
She highlighted Tianjin as a city where tradition meets modernity, noting that the Haihe River has long witnessed the city’s development as well as its cultural exchange and integration. She expressed hope that the gathering would be both joyful and memorable for all.
During the cruise, Peng Liyuan and the First Ladies listened to stories of Tianjin’s history and development, admired the riverside scenery, and enjoyed Chinese tea accompanied by traditional Sanxian music. The guests praised China’s rich cultural heritage and its remarkable achievements in modernization.
Among the participants were Uzbekistan’s First Lady Saida Mirziyoyeva, Mongolia’s First Lady Bolorzaya Bayarmagnai, Azerbaijan’s First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, Turkey’s First Lady Emine Erdoğan, Armenia’s First Lady Anna Hakobyan, Nepalese Prime Minister’s spouse Radhika Shakya, Egypt’s Prime Minister’s spouse Hasabella, Malaysia’s First Lady Wan Azizah, and Zahra Mostafavi Khomeini, daughter of the Iranian President.
