Environment Minister urged parliament members to raise commitments for climate action

Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Saber Hossain Chowdhury urged parliament members to raise their expectations and commitments for climate action. He said  Climate change is not just an environmental issue; it is an existential crisis that demands urgent and unified action. The outcome of our response to climate change will determine the fate of our planet and future generations. There is no greater threat facing humanity today than climate change, and Bangladesh stands at the forefront as ground zero for its impacts.

Environment Minister said this today afternoon while delivering a poignant and forward-thinking speech on the occasion of announcement of the newly formed committee of Climate Parliament, Bangladesh held at hotel Sheraton in the Capital.

Environment Minister said Bangladesh aspires to be champion in finding solutions to the challenges posed by climate change. Adopting a whole-of-society approach, we must bring together people from all sectors to confront these challenges head-on. Let us work together tirelessly to address the urgent needs of our planet.

Saber Chowdhury said the world want to learn from our successes in climate action. They want to understand how community-based adaptation strategies have proven to be effective. Let us seize this opportunity to showcase our innovative approaches and inspire others to take action. Together, let us embark on this journey towards a sustainable and resilient future for all.

Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury underscored the critical role of platforms such as the Climate Parliament in fostering international cooperation and driving sustainable solutions to mitigate the impacts of climate change. Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury was present as the chief guest in the occasion whereas Chairperson of Climate Parliament Tanvir Shakil Joy MP and Convener of Climate Parliament Nahim Razzaq were present among others.

Parliament Members, Ambassadors, representatives of international organizations, Environmental Experts, policymakers, and environmental advocates were also present to mark this significant milestone in the global fight against climate change.
