Consulate General of Bangladesh, Hong Kong Celebrated the National Mourning Day 2022

The Consulate General of Bangladesh, Hong Kong, observed the 47^th Death Anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Mourning Day-2022 at the consulate premise solemnity and fervor. The program started with the ceremonial half-masting of the national flag by the Consul General,  H.E Ms. Israt Ara, in the presence of Embassy officials, local community leaders, and Bangladeshi students by placing a flower bouquet at the portrait of the Father of the Nation. The second part of the program commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran. After that, one minute of silence was observed in honor of the departed souls of the Father of the Nation and all members of his martyred family.

Messages of the Hon’ble President, the Hon’ble Prime Minister, the Hon’ble Foreign Minister, and the Hon’ble State Minister for Foreign Affairs were read out by the Embassy officials. Eminent expatriate Bangladeshis then took part in a discussion session on the life and philosophy of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the importance of fulfilling his dream of ‘Sonar Bangla. Among others, Acting General Secretary of the Bangladesh Association of Hong Kong (BAHK) and Presidium member of Hong Kong Awami League, Mr. Shafiqul Islam Kajal, President of the Bangladesh Association of Hong Kong (BAHK), Mr. Syed M Mohiuddin, President of Hong Kong Awami League Mr. Abul Kalam Azad Liton, General Secretary of Hong Kong Awami League Shamsuzzoha R Ahmed, General Secretary of the China Bangladesh Friendship Center-CBFC and Joint General Secretary of Hong Kong Awami League Dr. Fakhrul Islam Babu took part of the discussion. They prayed for the departed souls of 15th August.

CG H.E Ms. Israt Ara wrapped up the program with her concluding speech, urging all to convert this national grief into strength, resolution to work together for the more extraordinary future achievements of Bangladesh, duly narrating the contribution of Bangabandhu to the rise of an independent, sovereign Bangladesh. The program ended by offering doa and munajah in seeking salvation for the departed souls of Bangabandhu and his family members. Lastly, all participants of the program were entertained with refreshments.
