A special event titled “Spring Festival Prelude: Watching the Spring Festival Gala Around the World” was recently held in Hamburg. The program was jointly organized by China Media Group (CMG) and the German-Chinese Friendship Association of Hamburg.
China’s Vice Minister of Publicity and CMG President Shen Haixiong, along with Hamburg Mayor Dr. Peter Tschentscher, delivered remarks via video message.
Additional speakers included Lin Tung, Consul General of China in Hamburg; Miriam Schmidt, Deputy Speaker of the Hamburg Parliament; former German Federal Minister for Transport, Building and Urban Development Wolfgang Boedewig; Michael Schumann, President of the German Federal Association for Economic Development and Foreign Trade; and Chen Qiuyi, President of the Hamburg German-Chinese Friendship Association.
More than 120 guests, including representatives from politics, business, culture, and consuls general from various countries, attended the ceremony.
Shen Haixiong highlighted that the CMG Spring Festival Gala, the world’s most-watched annual cultural program, has been held for 43 consecutive years. It has become a deeply emotional “spiritual New Year feast” for Chinese communities worldwide as well as international audiences.
Last year, CMG collaborated with over 3,100 media outlets across the globe through its multilingual, multi-platform broadcasting system, bringing forth the festive message embodying “the beauty of diversity.”
He announced that this year’s gala, themed “Galloping with the Spirit of the Fine Horse,” will feature innovative applications of 5G + 4K/8K + AI technologies. With broadcasting capabilities in 85 languages, CMG aims to present viewers with an exceptional cultural experience.
He invited global audiences to enjoy the gala and jointly welcome a more inclusive, warm, and hopeful Spring Festival.
The event featured musical performances, including the “Bola Chinese Choir,” which sang Jasmine Flower (Moli Hua) and 365 Blessings in both German and Chinese.
The NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra performed classical Chinese pieces such as Chinese Drum and Galloping Herds, showcasing the charm of Sino-German musical exchange.
Guests also enjoyed CMG’s Year of the Dragon Spring Festival Gala trailer and the video montage “Traveling China Through Cinema.” These audiovisual presentations vividly depicted the richness and diversity of Chinese culture. A display of cultural products related to the Spring Festival Gala also attracted considerable interest.
That evening, under the witness of invited guests, Hamburg’s Yu Garden lit up in vibrant ‘Chinese Red’, symbolizing the longstanding friendly-city relationship between Shanghai and Hamburg.
German mainstream media outlets, including N-TV and Hamburg Direkt TV, widely covered the event.
