Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Serbia’s capital Belgrade on a state visit by special plane on May 8. He was welcomed at the airport by the country’s president, Aleksandar Vucic.
As they stepped off the plane, the Chinese President and First Lady were greeted with flowers by a group of Serbian children.
At that time, other senior officials of the government of that country were also present at the airport.
In a written speech at the airport, Xi Jinping said, China-Serbia friendship is deep; The relationship between the two countries has passed the test of international adversity. Since the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries in 2016, bilateral relations have greatly improved and historic achievements have been achieved in bilateral cooperation. The mutual political trust between the two countries is as solid as a rock.
He said that the two countries are jointly implementing the ‘Belt and Road’ initiative; People-to-people contact between the two countries has become closer. China-Serbia cooperation is based on equality and mutual benefit, which is in line with the fundamental interests of both countries.
Xi also said that his country wants to create new conditions of high-quality cooperation with Serbia. He intends to have in-depth discussions with President Vučić on bilateral relations and other matters of common interest during his current visit. He believes that a new chapter in the development of China-Serbia relations will be created by making this visit fruitful.
Chinese First Lady Peng Li Yuan, Standing Member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Director of the Central Office Chai Chi, Foreign Minister Wang Yi, and other officials have also accompanied President Xi.
