India has expressed concern over Beijing’s construction of a dam on China’s Yarlung Zangbo River (known as the Brahmaputra in Indo-Bangladesh) in Tibet. India’s Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that China has been informed about India’s views and concerns in this regard. Downstream countries also have certain rights in respect of identical rivers.
In response to a question regarding China’s dam construction yesterday, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India said these things. Randhir Jaiswal said that right has been repeatedly informed at the political and expert level. India continues to monitor those rights and interests. The government will also take necessary steps.
It is known that the construction of this dam will cost China approximately 13 thousand 7 billion dollars. This proposed dam is bigger than the country’s ‘Three Gorges’ dam. It will be the largest dam in the world if built. The proposed dam will certainly affect the river flow of the two downstream countries India and Bangladesh. Both countries are concerned about this.
On this, Jaiswal said, India has never accepted the occupation of China in that dispute, and will not accept it. Their declaration will not affect the sovereignty of India. That area belonged to India and will remain India’s. A protest will be made against him at the diplomatic level. Source: NDTV
