Beijing, January 16 – China has cautioned Japan to rein in its military ambitions, warning that unchecked expansion could bring disastrous consequences for the Japanese people.
At a press briefing in Beijing on Friday, Senior Colonel Chang Xiao Kang, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of National Defense, addressed recent military developments. He emphasized that if Japan’s military ambitions go beyond control, it would pose a severe threat to Asian nations and could ultimately lead to devastating consequences for Japan itself.
Colonel Chang noted that in recent years, right-wing conservative forces in Japan have been rapidly expanding. They are consistently strengthening their armed forces and promoting “remilitarization.” History, he said, provides ample evidence that unrestrained Japanese militarism has historically endangered regional security.
Referencing the Potsdam Declaration, Colonel Chang stressed that “the authorities and powers that misled and deceived the Japanese people with hateful ambitions for world conquest must be permanently eradicated.”
He further stated that China is committed to working with all peace-loving nations to vigorously suppress any dangerous attempts to revive militarism, while collectively safeguarding the achievements of victory in World War II, and maintaining global and regional peace and stability.
