Since assuming the rotating chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in July 2024, China has successfully organized more than 100 diverse events.
In the security sector, a joint anti-terrorism exercise titled “Counter-Terrorism Cooperation 2024” was held to strengthen cooperation among SCO member states.
On the economic and trade front, China’s trade with SCO member states, observer countries, and dialogue partners reached a record USD 890 billion in 2024. Initiatives such as staff skill competitions and e-commerce livestreaming further deepened practical cooperation.
Focusing on the theme of “SCO Year of Sustainable Development,” the organization hosted multiple training programs on green development, poverty reduction, environmental information sharing, and low-carbon technologies, emphasizing innovation-driven development.
In the humanitarian sector, various activities including media think-tank summits, youth exchange camps, and film festivals have fostered mutual understanding and friendship among peoples of different countries.
