Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on Sunday morning, as the Belarusian leader visited China to attend the 2025 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit and the 80th anniversary commemorations of China’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the global victory over fascism.
President Xi recalled the historic solidarity between the Chinese and Belarusian peoples in their fight against imperialism and fascism, which forged deep ties of friendship. He said China is ready to work with Belarus to shoulder common responsibilities, practice true multilateralism, and advance global peace, development, and win-win cooperation.
Xi emphasized that the “all-weather, comprehensive strategic partnership” between China and Belarus is reaching new heights. Both sides, he said, should continue to support each other on core interests, implement high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, boost innovation under the 2024–2025 China-Belarus Year of Science and Technology, and expand exchanges in education, culture, tourism, and youth. He also called for closer coordination in multilateral platforms such as the SCO and BRICS.
President Lukashenko praised China’s dynamic development under Xi’s leadership, saying no force can halt its progress. He hailed China’s firm stance on justice and multilateralism and its contributions to Eurasian and global peace. Describing Belarus as China’s “permanent and trustworthy friend,” he pledged deeper exchanges on governance and stronger cooperation across multiple sectors.
During the meeting, the two countries signed several bilateral cooperation agreements covering science and technology, finance, metrology, media, transport, customs inspection, and quarantine.
