China and the United States Can Be ‘Partners and Friends’: Chinese Vice President

There are broad common interests and bright prospects for cooperation between China and the United States, and the two countries can and should be partners and friends, said Chinese Vice President Han Zheng.

He made the remarks on Tuesday during a meeting in Beijing with Rob Wagner, President of the Senate of the U.S. state of Oregon.

Han noted that since the beginning of this year, multiple phone conversations between the leaders of both nations have resulted in important consensus on various issues.

He expressed hope that the United States would work with China in the spirit of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation, so that relations between the two major countries could move forward on a sound and stable path in the new era.

The Vice President also highlighted the long-standing friendly and cooperative ties between Oregon and China, expressing confidence that President Wagner and his colleagues would further strengthen exchanges and mutual understanding between the two sides.

Rob Wagner, for his part, wished success for the upcoming Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, noting that the Oregon Senate has already passed a bill aimed at deepening friendly relations with China.
