Member states of the newly formed Board of Peace have pledged more than $5 billion to support the reconstruction of war-torn Gaza and provide humanitarian assistance to its residents. The announcement is set to be formally made by U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday, according to a report by Reuters.
President Trump stated that the funding will be directed towards rebuilding Gaza and delivering essential humanitarian aid to its communities. In a social media post on Truth Social on Sunday, he highlighted that member states have also committed to deploying thousands of personnel to the UN-approved stability forces and local police in the Palestinian territory.
“The member states of the Board of Peace have pledged over $5 billion to support humanitarian efforts and reconstruction in the Gaza Strip,” Trump said, emphasizing that Hamas must first honor previously signed agreements and fully demilitarize to enable these initiatives.
Trump described the Board of Peace as poised to become “the most influential international organization in history,” adding that serving as its chairman is a “great honor.” The board, launched at the Davos summit in Switzerland last January, aims to ensure long-term peace, oversee reconstruction, and foster a sustainable resolution to the Gaza conflict.
The Board of Peace’s powerful executive committee includes notable figures such as U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, former presidential advisor Jared Kushner, U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, World Bank President Ajay Banga, among others.
Founder-member invitations have been extended to countries including Argentina, Egypt, Hungary, Indonesia, Jordan, Morocco, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates, reinforcing the board’s global and collaborative approach to peacebuilding.
