The 7th China-Russia Energy Trade Forum was held in Beijing on Tuesday, November 25. Ding Xuexiang, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier, attended the opening ceremony, delivered a speech, and conveyed a congratulatory letter from Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Ding Xuexiang noted that, over the course of this year, the leaders of China and Russia have held numerous meetings and phone calls, and sent another congratulatory letter for the China-Russia Energy Trade Forum. These communications provide strategic guidance to further consolidate the China-Russia comprehensive energy cooperation partnership. At the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, China formulated strategic plans to expand high-quality opening-up and build a strong energy nation, creating new and significant opportunities for China-Russia energy cooperation. China is eager to implement key consensus reached between the two leaders, strengthen strategic coordination in the energy sector, and jointly create new win-win cooperation scenarios.
Regarding China-Russia energy cooperation, Ding Xuexiang put forward three proposals:
- Strengthen coordination and cooperation across the industrial chain.
- Enhance collaboration in energy transition and development.
- Pursue multilateral cooperation to jointly advance global energy governance initiatives.
Igor Sechin, Secretary of the Russian Presidential Council on Energy Development and Environmental Security and CEO of Rosneft, delivered a speech and conveyed a congratulatory letter from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Following the opening ceremony, Ding Xuexiang met with high-level Russian representatives attending the forum to discuss further cooperation opportunities.
