Cultural Advisor Mostafa Sarwar Faruki expressed optimism that the historic and cultural bonds between Bangladesh and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will deepen and grow stronger in the coming days.
Speaking at an event commemorating ASEAN Day held at the Royal Thai Embassy in Dhaka on Thursday, Faruki highlighted the longstanding cultural and traditional connections shared by the peoples of this region, which have created a unique link between Bangladesh and ASEAN countries.
He emphasized that there are abundant opportunities for enhanced cooperation between Bangladesh and ASEAN nations in areas such as tourism, trade, investment, and employment, which must be effectively harnessed through proper planning.
The event was also attended by His Excellency Haris bin Osman, High Commissioner of Brunei to Dhaka, and Her Excellency Suhada Osman, High Commissioner of Malaysia.
It is noteworthy that ASEAN was established on August 8, 1967, with the aim of promoting economic growth, social progress, and regional stability among Southeast Asian countries.
