In the meeting held on Monday in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Foreign Minister praised the country’s development and progress under the leadership of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. During this time Saudi investment in Bangladesh especially: Special Economic Zone and offshore banking system of the country was discussed.
Prime Minister’s Private Industry and Investment Advisor Salman F. Rahman, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia. Md. Javed Patwari, Additional Foreign Secretary Dr. Mu. Nazrul Islam, Director General (West Asia) Md Shafiqur Rahman and Director General (Foreign Minister’s Office) Md Arif Nazmul Hasan and Saudi officials were present in the meeting.
In the meeting, the Bangladesh-Saudi Arabia Joint Business Council (Joint Business Council-JBC) was emphasized to speed up their activities for the development of commercial relations between the two countries. Also regarding Bangladesh’s special privileges in importing oil from Saudi Arabia They discussed.

A productive discussion was held on bringing more transparency in the export of Bangladeshi manpower to Saudi Arabia and forming a joint task force to stop the harassment of workers by vested interests. Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmood requested special registration opportunities for Bangladeshi expatriates doing business in Saudi Arabia.
Besides, if the Rohingyas are asked for help in repatriation, the Saudi Foreign Minister assured cooperation. In the meeting, they emphasized on the united efforts of the Muslim world to resolve Israel’s brutality in Gaza.
The upcoming visit of Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Muhammad bin Salman to Bangladesh was also discussed in the one and a half hour heart-warming meeting. Besides, they decided to adopt a joint action plan for proper celebration of the golden jubilee of Saudi-Bangladesh diplomatic relations next year and to elevate the meeting of Bangladesh-Saudi Arab Joint Commission to ministerial level.
After the meeting, they participated in the lunch organized by the Saudi Foreign Minister in honor of the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh.
