Bangladesh Consulate in Hong Kong celebrated the historic 7th March with due solemnity

The Consulate General of Bangladesh in Hong Kong commemorates the historic 7th of March with utmost reverence and dignified grace. This day holds immense significance in Bangladesh’s history as it marks the speech delivered by the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in 1971, which played a pivotal role in the country’s journey towards independence.
The 7th of March speech, recognized by UNESCO as part of the Memory of the World International Register in 2017, symbolizes the aspirations and spirit of the Bangladeshi people for freedom and self-determination. Bangabandhu’s powerful words in this speech inspired and mobilized the nation toward the liberation war, ultimately leading to Bangladesh’s independence.
Today’s commemoration at the Consulate General includes the formal hoisting of the national flag, recitation of messages from esteemed leaders, floral tributes to Bangabandhu’s portrait, documentary film exhibitions, and reflections on the profound significance of this day. As we reflect on this historic speech and its impact on the independence struggle, we honor the courage and vision of those who fought for the freedom and sovereignty of Bangladesh.
