CMG’s 2026 Gala Showcases a Rare Fusion of Tradition and Innovation

China Media Group’s 2026 Chinese New Year Gala was broadcast as scheduled on the evening of February 16, presenting a remarkable fusion of cultural elements and technological innovation that allowed audiences worldwide to experience the festivities of the Lunar New Year. Preliminary statistics indicate that by midnight on February 16, the live broadcast across all media platforms reached 677 million viewers, while nearly 4,000 international media outlets aired the gala.

Traditional Chinese culture served as a central source of inspiration for this year’s Spring Festival Gala. Singer Zhou Shen and children from the Guizhou Village Tea performing troupe shared warm greetings in the “Qi Liang” segment. Dressed in colorful attire representing diverse ethnic groups, these lively and charming children narrated magical stories of the horse. In the “Kungfu Robot” martial arts performance, humanoid robots transformed into Kungfu masters, captivating audiences with their precise and innovative movements. Additionally, the “Joyful Rain” dance segment beautifully depicted natural landscapes through expressive choreography.

International artists from the United States, France, Ireland, Spain, Hungary, and Austria also participated, presenting a variety of performances, including singing, dance, acrobatics, tightrope walking, and more.
