Last Thursday, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Xi Jinping, sent a congratulatory message to Thongloun Sisoulith, who was re-elected as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP).
In his message, Xi Jinping noted that since the 11th National Congress of the LPRP, the Party Central Committee has united and led the Lao people in actively exploring a socialist development path suited to Laos’ national conditions. Despite numerous challenges, Laos has pressed ahead with determination, achieving significant accomplishments in strengthening Party building, promoting economic development, improving people’s livelihoods, and expanding foreign relations.
Xi described the successful convening of the 12th National Congress of the LPRP as a major milestone that bridges past achievements with future development in Laos’ socialist cause. He expressed confidence that, under the leadership of the General Secretary and the Party Central Committee, the Party and the Lao people will remain united, successfully fulfill all goals and tasks set forth by the 12th Congress, open a new chapter in socialist development, and advance steadily toward the centenary goal of Party founding in 2055.
Xi Jinping further emphasized that China and Laos are socialist neighbors linked by mountains and rivers and bound by deep-rooted friendship. In recent years, through joint efforts, China–Laos relations have reached their best level in history. The building of a China–Laos community with a shared future of strategic significance has continued to deepen in a more substantive and practical manner, yielding a series of fruitful outcomes.
Against the backdrop of profound changes in regional and global landscapes, Xi expressed his willingness to work closely with General Secretary Thongloun Sisoulith to further strengthen strategic guidance for bilateral relations, carry forward the traditional China–Laos friendship, deepen exchanges on Party governance and state administration, expand practical cooperation across various fields, and jointly advance the building of a higher-quality and higher-standard China–Laos community with a shared future.
