A special court in Pakistan has sentenced former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi to 17 years in prison in the Toshakhana corruption case. The court, located in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, handed down the verdict on Saturday, December 20, 2025.
Imran Khan received 10 years of rigorous imprisonment under Pakistan Penal Code’s Sections 34 and 409, and an additional 7 years under the Corruption Prevention Act. Bushra Bibi was given the same sentence. Both were also fined 1.64 million rupees, with additional imprisonment if the fine is not paid.
The case involved allegations of illegally acquiring and selling state gifts, including a valuable Bulgari jewelry set gifted by Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman. The court considered Imran Khan’s age and Bushra Bibi’s gender when deciding on the sentence.
Imran Khan’s lawyers plan to appeal the verdict in the Islamabad High Court, calling it a “politically motivated” decision. Khan has been in jail since August 2023, facing multiple corruption cases.
